The Metropolitan International School (MIS) is a private, co-educational, full-time school located in the center of the Rhine-Neckar region. We at MIS are convinced that in order to be successful, children must find learning an enjoyable experience. We therefore combine a demanding curriculum with a holistic view of the child’s development and a pedagogic approach that pays special attention to individual abilities and how best to promote them.
MIS is especially intended to meet the needs of international families that are resident in the Metro Region for professional reasons and of German parents who seek an international education for their children.
MIS is a fully state-accredited school and an accredited Cambridge International Centre.
It offers the purely English-speaking curriculum of the renowned Cambridge Programme, which is an attractive option for those families that expect to spend only a few years in Germany and wish to ensure linguistic continuity in their children’s education. For these children, the school’s curriculum offers the natural choice of German as a principal foreign language.
The second option involves meeting the combined requirements of the CIE and those of the German state of Hesse. With this special curriculum, MIS offers not only an internationally competitive education in the English and German languages, but also ensures that German children will fulfill all requirements of compulsory education.
MIS is young, and it will grow in step with its students. The secondary school has been launched in 2009-10, beginning with grade 7, and then expand year by year until all is complete with grade 12 in 2014-15.
The school’s address is: Walter-Gropius Allee3, D-68519 Viernheim. It is situated directly off the A659 (exit Viernheim Ost/Lorsch), and is only a two-minute walk from the OEG “Eissporthalle” tram station.
